Range Rover Sport Electric ushers in a new electric era

The Range Rover Sport Electric has been officially confirmed and is preparing to inaugurate a new era in the British brand’s lineup. The luxury SUV will be the second fully electric model from Range Rover and is expected to reach the market by the end of 2026.

The first presentation took place during the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom, where some prototypes took part in different driving challenges. This preview made it possible to see the model’s first lines and understand how the brand intends to carry the sporting character of the Range Rover Sport into a fully electric powertrain.

Visually, the new Range Rover Sport Electric is expected to preserve the robust and muscular silhouette that characterizes the model. The main transformation will be in the propulsion system, developed to offer faster, quieter, and smoother power delivery.

The brand is also promising more power and torque than what is currently available in the range, although the specific figures have not yet been disclosed.

Electric performance without losing the character of the Range Rover Sport

Electrification should not alter the dynamic identity of the Range Rover Sport. On the contrary, the brand says the model was specifically developed and tuned to maintain an engaging driving experience, both on-road and off-road.

The electric propulsion system will be accompanied by a new chassis setup, designed to take advantage of the immediate response of the electric motors and ensure stable and predictable behavior on different types of surfaces.

The Range Rover Sport Electric will also feature a new sound system created specifically for the electric driving experience. The solution aims to strengthen the connection between driver and car, compensating for the absence of the traditional sound of a combustion engine.

During the presentation at Goodwood, the prototypes faced several challenges on the circuit. The initiative also served to recall some of the most demanding achievements performed by the Range Rover Sport over the years.

Among them is the climb of the 999 steps of Heaven’s Gate in China, and the ascent of a spillway in Iceland. These challenges helped build the model’s reputation as an SUV capable of combining luxury, performance, and off-road capability.

With the electric version, Range Rover intends to maintain that versatility, while adding quieter driving and more immediate response.

A range with five powertrain options

The arrival of the Range Rover Sport Electric will complete one of the most comprehensive powertrain lineups in the luxury SUV segment.

In addition to the new fully electric variant, the model will continue to be available with plug-in hybrid powertrains, petrol V8 engines with mild-hybrid technology, and six-cylinder petrol and diesel units.

This diversity allows Range Rover to follow the transition to electric mobility without, for now, abandoning the conventional powertrains that continue to be in demand in different markets.

The Range Rover Sport Electric comes after the Range Rover Electric, the brand’s first fully electric car. Both models are part of the British manufacturer’s electrification strategy, which aims to strengthen its presence in the premium electric SUV market.

Several important details are still unknown, such as power, battery capacity, range, charging times, and pricing. The exact launch date has also not been confirmed.

Range Rover is expected to reveal all specifications throughout 2026, before the model reaches the market. Until then, this first presentation shows that the brand intends to enter the electric era without giving up the performance, luxury, and off-road capability associated with the Range Rover Sport.
