The Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix has been postponed!

The Algarve International Circuit, in Portimão, is preparing to host the world’s elite of motorcycle racing under slightly different circumstances than initially planned. Due to the current geopolitical instability in the Middle East, specifically the conflict involving Iran, the Qatar Grand Prix has been rescheduled. This strategic change forced a reorganization of the final phase of the MotoGP World Championship, directly impacting the Portuguese race.

Originally scheduled for the weekend of November 15, the Portuguese Grand Prix has been postponed by one week and will now take place between November 20 and 22. According to Carmelo Ezpeleta, MotoGP’s CEO, the decision was made in close coordination with all partners, prioritizing the safety and well-being of riders, teams, and the public. The flexibility shown by the Portimão circuit administration was also highlighted as essential to ensure the event’s viability.

A decisive end to the season

With this adjustment, the conclusion of the 2026 season will be particularly intense. The race on Portuguese soil will be immediately followed by the Valencian Community Grand Prix in Spain, which will take place between November 27 and 29. This succession of consecutive races in the final weeks of the calendar places additional pressure on the riders, and the premier class world title is expected to be decided only in these final corners.

Jorge Viegas, Portuguese president of the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), reiterated that, given the current international context, the safety of everyone involved must remain the absolute priority of the organization. For speed enthusiasts, these new dates represent an opportunity to witness an electrifying championship finale on Portuguese territory.
