All about the Rallye Vidreiro 2025

On October 17 and 18, the Rallye Vidreiro – Centro de Portugal returns to the roads of Alcobaça, Marinha Grande, and Pombal, bringing with it all the excitement, spectacle, and unmistakable sound of roaring engines. Organized by the Clube Automóvel da Marinha Grande, the event closes the Portuguese Rally Championship (CPR) and promises to be one of the most thrilling editions in recent years.

An event that unites three regions

The rally is born from the collaboration between the Municipalities of Alcobaça, Marinha Grande, and Pombal, strengthening the joint visibility of these regions while promoting tourism, culture, and local identity. The official start takes place next to the Monastery of Alcobaça (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), offering a historical backdrop that contrasts with the adrenaline of rally cars in action.

After the morning shakedown in Alfeizerão, the rally heads to iconic stages such as São Pedro de Moel, famous for its fast seaside curves, and Pombal, which hosts the eagerly awaited Night Super Special Stage at 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, the action continues through Mata Mourisca and the brand-new Arena Expocentro, where motorsport merges with lights, music, and a festive atmosphere to close the competition weekend in style.

The national title on the line

As the 2025 Portuguese Rally Championship comes to an end, the Rallye Vidreiro takes on special importance—it will decide the new national champion. Armindo Araújo, Dani Sordo, and Kris Meeke arrive separated by just five points, leaving everything open until the final meters.

Armindo Araújo holds a slight advantage thanks to his consistency throughout the season, but Spain’s Dani Sordo, driving the Hyundai i20 N Rally2, is determined to fight for the win. “We’ll give everything for Hyundai and push until the very last meter,” said the driver, who has won two of the last three rallies. Meanwhile, Kris Meeke, known for his speed and experience, promises a fierce battle in what could become a historic showdown in the CPR.

Rising talents and parallel competitions

Beyond the main championship contenders, the Rallye Vidreiro will also feature several side battles. In the Clio Trophy Portugal, João Rodrigues looks to secure the title against strong competition from Luís Caetano and Tiago Pereira, both local drivers counting on strong home support.

Young driver Francisco Fontes, just 18 years old, will also be in action behind the wheel of a Lancia Ypsilon HF Racing Rally6, showcasing the sport’s focus on the future. “I want to be even more competitive and keep evolving,” said the Sports & You driver, who competes under the FPAK Junior Team Ralis program.
