Renault 5 Turbo 3E: The legend is back, now in an electric version

After Renault launched the revamped Renault 5, now comes the sports version.

Renault has resurrected one of its most iconic models, this time reinvented for the electric age. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is not just a tribute to the past, but a revolution in itself: a ‘mini-supercar’ that combines power, excitement and an irreverent design, while remaining true to the racing spirit of its 80s predecessors.

Electrifying power for thrilling driving

With 540bhp and a rear-wheel drive system with independent electric motors in the wheels, the Renault 5 Turbo 3E is synonymous with adrenaline at the wheel. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds puts it in the league of large super sports cars, but in a compact and agile format. What's more, its 800-volt technology allows for ultra-fast charging, reaching 80 per cent of the battery in just 15 minutes. With a power-to-weight ratio of 2.7kg/hp, this little monster promises guaranteed fun on road and track.

A design that screams performance

Inspired by the legendary Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2, the 3E has a bold, muscular look, with an imposing bumper, wide rear wings and an aerodynamic diffuser that improves stability. Despite its compact dimensions (4.08 metres long and 2.03 metres wide), it displays the aggressive presence of a true sports car. The aerodynamics have been carefully worked out to optimise performance and guarantee excellent dynamic behaviour.

The square headlights, with LED technology, are a modern reinterpretation of the classic Renault 5 Turbo. It also retains the rear-wheel drive configuration and optimised weight distribution, thanks to the strategic position of the battery under the floor of the vehicle. A true balance between nostalgia and innovation.

Competition interior with cutting-edge technology

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E's cabin is a celebration of motorsport. The ‘baquet’ type seats with six-point belts, the wraparound console and the digital instrument panel bring the past into the present with a touch of sophistication. The OpenR Link system, with integrated Google, offers a connected and intuitive experience, making every journey more interactive and personalised.

Renault has made a strong commitment to personalisation. The model will be available in various colour and trim combinations, including classic schemes inspired by the 1982 Tour de Corse. From the upholstery options to the details on the dashboard, each unit can be configured to the customer's taste.

Engineering focused on performance

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is not limited to its imposing looks. The carbon fibre structure reduces weight, ensuring an agile and responsive drive. Equipped with a drift-specific driving mode and a rally-style vertical handbrake, this model offers a pure and fun driving experience.

The 70 kWh battery provides a range of over 400 kilometres in normal driving (WLTP) and allows for intense sessions on the track before needing to be recharged. On alternating current (AC), a full charge takes around eight hours, guaranteeing everyday convenience.

Limited production for true enthusiasts

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E will be produced in an exclusive edition of 1,980 units, in honour of the launch year of the original iconic Renault 5 Turbo. Each copy will be numbered, and customers will be able to choose their favourite number at the time of booking. Orders will open shortly, with the first deliveries scheduled for the first half of 2027.

This model is not just a collector's item, but a statement from Renault about the future of electric performance. The brand continues to focus on exciting and innovative models, while keeping the passion for sporty driving alive. The Renault 5 Turbo 3E proves that driving pleasure doesn't disappear with electrification - on the contrary, it takes on a new dimension.
