Qashqai e‑POWER arrives in September with a range of 1,200 km
Nissan has just unveiled the next generation of its innovative e-POWER technology, which will debut in Europe as early as September 2025, integrated into the Qashqai – one of the most popular SUVs on the market. With a theoretical range of 1,200 km, fuel consumption of just 4.5 L/100 km, and CO₂ emissions reduced to 102 g/km, the new Qashqai with e-POWER is set to redefine mobility in the C-Crossover segment.
Unlike traditional hybrids, the e-POWER system uses the petrol engine solely to generate electricity. This energy is then sent directly to the electric motor that drives the wheels, delivering a smooth, quiet drive with instant response — much like a 100% electric vehicle. All this without the need for external charging, as the system is powered solely by conventional fuel.
The new generation of the system brings a range of improvements in efficiency, performance, and comfort:
Average fuel consumption reduced to 4.5 L/100 km (WLTP);
CO₂ emissions of just 102 g/km — a 12% reduction compared to the previous version;
Cabin noise reduced by up to 5.6 dB, enhancing the feeling of comfort and sophistication;
Power increased by 11 kW, with a total of 151 kW and more dynamic response in Sport mode (+10 kW).
At the heart of this evolution is a completely redesigned 5-in-1 modular powertrain unit, integrating the electric motor, generator, inverter, reducer, and augmenter into a lighter and more compact system. The combustion engine, though still a 1.5-litre three-cylinder, is now entirely new and optimised for e-POWER, featuring Nissan’s exclusive STARC system, which achieves a thermal efficiency of 42%.
Further enhancements include:
A larger turbocharger that reduces engine revs at motorway speeds;
Low-viscosity oil (0W16), which reduces internal friction;
Extended maintenance intervals from 15,000 km to 20,000 km;
14% reduction in fuel consumption on the motorway and 16% improvement in real-world driving compared to the previous generation.
The Qashqai with e-POWER also retains regenerative braking capabilities and offers a more engaging driving experience, with no gearbox or switching between drive modes.
But the innovations go beyond the powertrain. The model also features significant tech upgrades, including the new Google built-in infotainment system, with Google Maps, Google Assistant, and access to the Play Store. Drivers will also benefit from the new Nissan Trip Stories function, allowing them to record and share memorable journeys via the NissanConnect Services app.
On the safety front, the latest generation Qashqai features an enhanced ProPILOT system, offering improved assisted driving across multiple lanes and greater environmental awareness.
Produced at Nissan’s Sunderland plant in the UK, the new Qashqai e-POWER will launch in the European market from September 2025, with later expansion to Africa and Oceania.
