Bovensiepen 05 GT succeeds the Alpina B5 with 800 hp onboard
Following Alpina’s integration into the BMW Group, many believed the Bovensiepen family would step away from the automotive world. However, that is far from the case.
The founders of the historic Alpina brand have unveiled the new Bovensiepen 05 GT, a luxury high-performance grand tourer based on the BMW M5 Touring, which many already consider the true spiritual successor to the legendary Alpina B5.
The model combines exclusivity, luxury and impressive performance while keeping alive the philosophy that made Alpina so special over the decades.
A BMW M5 Touring... but with the Alpina spirit
Beneath the bodywork lies the foundation of the new BMW M5 Touring, but the Bovensiepen family has introduced a series of mechanical and visual changes to create something more refined and exclusive.
The hybrid powertrain, combining a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor, has been reworked to deliver an impressive 800 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque.
Thanks to these figures, the 05 GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 305 km/h.
To match the increase in performance, the company developed a new Akrapovič titanium exhaust system with four oval tailpipes, designed to provide an even more distinctive soundtrack for the V8.
The suspension has also been revised with Eibach springs, additional chassis reinforcements and Pirelli tyres developed specifically for this model.
Exclusive design by Frank Stephenson
Unlike the standard BMW M5 Touring, the 05 GT features its own unique identity.
The design was created by Frank Stephenson, the man responsible for iconic vehicles such as the first BMW X5, the modern MINI, the Ferrari F430 and the McLaren P1.
The body receives redesigned bumpers, carbon-fiber components, a bespoke front grille and 21-inch forged wheels, maintaining a more elegant and understated appearance than the standard M5.
Inside, the focus is on handcrafted materials and extensive personalization options.
According to the company, each vehicle requires more than 250 hours of manual craftsmanship, reinforcing its exclusive nature.
The Alpina spirit lives on
Although it no longer carries the Alpina name, the new Bovensiepen 05 GT preserves many of the principles that defined the company founded by Burkard Bovensiepen.
Rather than pursuing the extreme approach of BMW M models, the goal remains to offer the perfect balance between performance, comfort and exclusivity.
The first deliveries are scheduled for the final quarter of 2026, with production limited to around 200 units per year.
One thing is certain: even without the Alpina badge, the DNA that won over thousands of enthusiasts remains very much alive.
