Bugatti restores the original shine of a very exclusive Veyron

Bugatti has just restored the original shine of one of the most exclusive examples of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. With a polished aluminium body that acts like a true mirror, this unique hypercar returned to the French brand’s facilities to recover the appearance and characteristics that made it so special.

The restoration was carried out in Molsheim, France, through the La Maison Pur Sang programme, dedicated to the preservation, authentication and restoration of Bugatti’s most exclusive cars.

But there is another detail that is sparking the curiosity of automotive enthusiasts: this Bugatti Veyron may be linked to Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso.

A unique Bugatti Veyron with a mirrored body

The main highlight of this Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse is undoubtedly its bodywork. Unlike conventional cars, this example does not feature traditional paintwork, but rather polished aluminium surfaces that reflect the light and everything around them.

The result is a mirror-like finish that transforms the car into a true piece of engineering and design.

Creating this body required a particularly complex production process. According to the information released, two aluminium blocks with a combined weight of approximately 20 tonnes were transported to Bugatti’s facilities and used in the development of the project.

The interior is equally striking. In contrast with the silver exterior, the cabin features Carmine Red leather upholstery, combined with exposed carbon-fibre elements and polished aluminium.

To restore the original configuration of this example, identified by chassis 8.100, Bugatti specialists removed customisation elements introduced over the years.

The work also included restoration and polishing of the bodywork, allowing the Veyron to regain the mirrored finish it had when it left the factory.

More than a simple cosmetic intervention, the aim was to preserve the authenticity and identity of a car that holds a special place in the brand’s history.

A hypercar with 1,200 hp and impressive performance

Despite its unusual appearance, this Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse remains a true demonstration of power and automotive engineering.

Under the bodywork sits the well-known 8.0-litre W16 engine, equipped with four turbochargers and capable of producing 1,200 hp and 1,500 Nm of torque.

Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, this powertrain allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds.

And the top speed is equally impressive.

In 2013, a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse set a speed record for convertible cars by reaching 408.84 km/h at the Volkswagen Group test track in Ehra-Lessien, Germany.

At the time, the achievement was recorded by driver Anthony Liu, demonstrating the extraordinary capabilities of this model.

It is worth remembering that Bugatti produced only 450 examples of the Veyron across all versions. Among them, this Grand Sport Vitesse with its mirrored body stands out for its truly unique configuration.

Is Fernando Alonso the owner of this Bugatti Veyron?

The identity of the owner of this Bugatti Veyron remains somewhat mysterious.

The French brand confirmed that the car was delivered to a new owner and is currently located on the French Riviera, but did not reveal their identity.

However, Fernando Alonso’s name has been linked to this example.

The Spanish Formula 1 driver was seen in September driving a Bugatti Veyron in Monaco with a configuration apparently identical to that of the recently restored car.

This coincidence has fuelled speculation that the two-time Formula 1 world champion may be the owner of the exclusive hypercar.

Even so, it is important to clarify that there is no official confirmation that Fernando Alonso owns this Bugatti Veyron.

The amount invested in the restoration also remains unknown. Bugatti has not disclosed the cost of the work, although the complexity of the intervention makes it clear that it was a particularly demanding operation.

According to reports in the press, the car is believed to have been sold for approximately five million dollars at the beginning of 2026, a figure that has not been officially confirmed by the brand.

With this restoration, Bugatti demonstrates the importance of preserving its rarest models while respecting the original characteristics that make them unique.

And in a world where automotive exclusivity is increasingly valued, this Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse proves that sometimes an extravagant paint finish is not necessary to attract all the attention. Simply letting the aluminium shine is enough.
