Work on the 25 de Abril Bridge will affect traffic until November

The 25 de Abril Bridge, one of the main connections between Lisbon and Almada, will be subject to nighttime traffic restrictions from October 9 to November 5 due to paving works carried out by Lusoponte, the company that operates the infrastructure.

The works are part of the routine maintenance program for the two-kilometer suspension bridge and will take place on weekdays between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., a period chosen to minimize the impact on daily travel between the north and south banks of the Tagus River.

During this period, Lusoponte recommends using the Vasco da Gama Bridge as an alternative route for those needing to cross the river, which is also managed by the same concessionaire.

The intervention aims to ensure better driving conditions and safety on one of the country’s most frequently used road crossings, which serves thousands of drivers every day.

Although the work will be limited to nighttime hours, some occasional delays are expected, so travelers are advised to plan their journeys in advance and check updated traffic information during the construction period.

With this intervention, Lusoponte reinforces its commitment to the maintenance and preservation of Greater Lisbon’s road infrastructure, ensuring the durability and safety of one of Portugal’s most iconic bridges.
